Enjoy the perfect day out in Fletcher, NC!

Last Updated on September 2, 2025

No longer simply a sleepy stopping point between Asheville and Hendersonville, Fletcher, NC, is now a destination in its own right. Much of the town’s popularity comes from its proximity to the wonders of the Western North Carolina mountains, its growing small business community, and its mixture of new and established housing.

There’s enough to do in and around Fletcher to fill a lifetime! But if you are here for a brief visit, we encourage you to make the most of your time. Here’s how we’d spend a “perfect day out” in Fletcher, NC.

Start with a baked-from-scratch breakfast

There is no shortage of coffee shops, bakeries, and breakfast spots in Fletcher. Don’t miss the local favorite Fletcher Village Bakery, a relaxed environment where everything is made from scratch daily. Whether you’re popping by for an espresso and pastry to go, or you stay to enjoy sweet and savory toasts, fresh and pressed sandwiches, and locally inspired sandwiches—you’re sure to make your tastebuds happy.

Provenance Coffee Co. operates out of Auction House Food & Drink Hall, proudly serving locally roasted Counter Culture Coffee and a small, but delicious, food menu. BTM Food Truck—serving biscuits, tacos, and more—offers breakfast biscuits and burritos worth standing in line for. And Kostas Kitchen is another long-time favorite for breakfast, brunch, and lunch in Fletcher.

Shop big on a budget

Fletcher is just a short drive from Asheville’s Tanger Outlets or the eclectic shops of Biltmore Park, Biltmore Village, West Asheville, and Downtown Asheville. But if you’re sticking to a budget, you don’t have to go far to enjoy some of the best shopping around. In a single afternoon, it’s easy to explore a thrift store, donation center, collectibles shop, flea market, and used bookstore—all located along our custom Fletcher thrifting route

Along the way, you can relive your childhood at Fletcher’s Fun Toys. The shop sells a mixture of new and vintage toys, games, plushies, figurines, and more. And you never know what you’ll find at Smiley’s Flea Market, North Carolina’s largest flea market with over 1,000 selling spaces. But whatever you’re looking for—from peanuts to bulldozers—you’re sure to find it at bargain prices!

Looking for antiques, vintage collectibles, and local art? Founded in the summer of 2016, Garage on 25 is home to more than 80 local makers, creators, upcyclers, vintage enthusiasts, and pickers. The result is a diverse and vibrant marketplace with art that appeals to all senses.

Have an outdoor adventure!

In recent years, Fletcher has expanded its health and recreation initiatives, implementing a greenways master plan that makes the community more walkable and bikeable. Already well underway, the plan envisions expanding the trail network to some 13 miles.

Several local parks offer opportunities for exercise and enjoyment close to home. The 60-acre Bill Moore Community Park features playgrounds, picnic areas, walking trails, and baseball and soccer fields. Kate’s and Pete’s Park, adjacent to the Fletcher Library, has playgrounds, trails, and an outdoor grilling area. Behind Asheville Regional Airport, Westfeldt Park offers access to the French Broad River with a floating boat ramp.

Fletcher is also conveniently located near Pisgah National Forest and the Blue Ridge Parkway, havens for sightseers, cyclists, and outdoor adventurers of all types. Whether you’re into river sports or hiking with your dog, you’re close to it all here.

Grab a local craft beverage

Western North Carolina has a reputation for great craft beer, and Fletcher is in the heart of it all! Within a short drive, you can reach dozens of breweries in Asheville, Hendersonville, Fairview, and Brevard. Nearby Mills River is home to three great options: Mills River Brewing, Appalachian Mountain Brewing, and Burning Blush Brewery. Local giant Sierra Nevada Brewery is also located in the area, drawing beer and nature enthusiasts alike.

Henderson County is also known for its apple production. As a result, the area also produces some of the best ciders in the country. Bold Rock Cidery in Mills River is a destination for lovers of cider, craft beer, great food, and live music.

But if you want to stay in the heart of Fletcher, there’s another beverage that will catch your attention. Two Trees Distilling Co. creates some of the finest whiskeys in the region! Stop into their tasting room for rotating specialty cocktails and free tastings seven days a week.

Enjoy a taste of the bayou

Even in the Blue Ridge Mountains, locals have a taste for the coast. And when that coast is the Louisiana Gulf, we can’t resist. Surf N Brew Oyster Bar & Grill searches the country for 100% domestic wild-caught seafood delivered fresh from the coast. From the po-boys with New Orleans flair to the Mississippi hushpuppies that folks drive hours for—these fresh flavors come from family recipes that have been around for decades. While you’re there, enjoy choosing from two dozen local beers and ciders on tap.

End the day with live music

Dating back more than a century, Fletcher’s Feed & Seed is well known throughout the South as “inspiration come to life”. This former feed and supply store building is now home to a unique underground atmosphere-style church that hosts live musical performances weekly. Enjoy the best of local bluegrass, classic country, and Appalachian music every Friday night, with no cover charge. Bring the family, and join in a tradition that spans generations.
