Allen Tate Companies, the Carolinas’ leading real estate company, has named Melissa Turney as sales manager for the company’s Lake Norman office.
In this role, Turney will develop and coach an established team of more than 75 successful agents and help expand the culture of Allen Tate to attract new agents. She will partner with Branch Leader Angela Standish to lead the Allen Tate Lake Norman office.
A seasoned professional, Turney has worked in the real estate industry for 10 years, most recently as broker-in-charge of a boutique real estate firm in South Charlotte and previously as associate broker-in-charge with a luxury real estate firm in Cornelius. She is a licensed Realtor in both North and South Carolina, and holds the Certified Ally designation from the LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance.
An active industry volunteer, she serves as a member of the Canopy Marketing and Communications Advisory Committee and is a member of the Strides for Shelter 5K Committee.
Prior to her real estate career, Turney managed the U.S. office of an offshore Mexican fish farm, and was sales and operations manager for a country club in Chapel Hill, N.C. She holds a bachelor of science degree in tourism management from North Carolina State University.
She is an active supporter of Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, having served for the past 16 years. She currently serves as president of the Hough High School PTSA and president of the Hough High School Booster Club. Previous leadership roles include president of J.V. Washam Elementary PTO and vice president of Bailey Middle School PTSA.

A New Hampshire native, Turney has lived in the Charlotte area for more than 19 years and makes her home in Lake Norman. She has two children, Spencer, who attends East Carolina University majoring in public health, and Kaitlin, a high school senior. She enjoys travel, the arts, football, yoga, exploring the region and spending time with her family. .
