Howard Hanna leaders also honored

Allen Tate Companies President Gary Scott has been named to the Swanepoel Power 200 for 2025, an annual list of real estate’s most powerful and influential executives and leaders in the real estate brokerage industry.

Scott is ranked No. 127 among the top 200 real estate executives. He was previously named to the Swanepoel Power 200 for 2022 and 2024.

Three leaders from Allen Tate parent company Howard Hanna Real Estate were also recognized. They include Howard “Hoby” Hanna IV, CEO, Howard Hanna Real Estate Services ranked at No. 9, and Kristine “Kris” Burdick, president of brokerage operations for Howard Hanna Real Estate, ranked at No. 123.

Whitney LaCosta, executive vice president of Howard Hanna Coach Realtors, was also named to the Power 200 Watchlist. LaCosta serves as chairman of Leading Real Estate Companies of the World.

The SP 200 is compiled and published annually by T3 Sixty, the residential real estate brokerage industry’s leading management consulting and research firm.

The T3 leadership team ranks leaders by four criteria weighted equally: their power within their own company; their reputation and influence among industry peers; their relative power among their industry subgroup; and their anticipated impact in the foreseeable future.

“We’re thrilled to have leaders from across our organization recognized on the list,” said Hanna. “The annual recognition is a testament to the impressive leadership we have across the Hanna Family of Companies.”

Scott oversees residential real estate operations, strategic market growth and expansion and agent recruiting for the company’s seven-region footprint in the Carolinas. He has more than 35 years of experience in the real estate industry and has held positions with multiple brokerage firms covering the mid-Atlantic region.

Scott served as general sales manager and senior vice president of Allen Tate Realtors from 1998-2010, and returned to lead the company in his current role in November 2021.

In 2024, Allen Tate expanded its footprint with seven new acquisitions, including the company’s entrance into the South Carolina Low County with the acquisition of The Alliance Group Realty in October.

In 2018, Allen Tate joined forces with Howard Hanna Real Estate, the third-largest real estate company in the United States and the largest home seller in Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York. The partnership created the #1 privately owned real estate company in the nation, with 14,000 agents and employees in more than 400 offices in 13 states.

Allen Tate is the Carolinas’ largest real estate company based on closed sales volume, with more than 70 offices and 1,800 Realtors in the Charlotte, Triad, Triangle, High Country, Highland/Cashiers and Asheville/Mountain regions of North Carolina and the Upstate and Low Country regions of South Carolina. Allen Tate is a partner of Howard Hanna Real Estate, the largest privately held real estate broker in the United States. The full-service real estate company has 500 real estate, mortgage, insurance, title, and escrow service offices and more than 15,000 sales associates and staff across 13 states.
