Discover a new take on nachos in Asheville, NC

Last Updated on March 31, 2026

Technically (if you can be technical about unofficial holidays), National Nacho Day isn’t until November 6. But in our opinion, there’s never a bad day for nachos!

The Blue Ridge Mountains aren’t widely known for quality Latino cuisine—but they should be! We have our fair share of delicious Mexican restaurants, Latin-inspired fusion dishes, innovative food trucks, and authentic carnicerias. And though it’s only been around as a dish for 85 years, nachos are a staple on appetizer menus throughout Asheville. Local restaurants like Nachos & Beer love them so much they made the dish part of their name.

If you’re looking for a great plate of traditional nachos, you don’t have to look hard. And if you want less-than-authentic nachos with a very innovative mountain twist, we have you covered there, too. Here are six places you can get untraditional—but very creative!—nachos in Asheville, NC.

Ben’s Tune Up

Ben’s Tune Up is the South Slope’s own urban beer garden, full-service Asian fusion restaurant, sake brewery, and sake tasting room—all hidden in a converted auto shop. Their American-style sake is easy to approach for the uninitiated. They incorporate new fruit infusions and light carbonation, and they package everything in friendly, familiar bottles and cans. Plus, unlike other Beer City beverages, it’s naturally gluten free. And what kind of nachos would such a place create? Why, BBQ smoked pork wonton nachos topped with blueberry hoisin sauce, of course! Yum!

Huli Sue’s

Mahalo from downtown Asheville! Located in the historic Grove Arcade, Huli Sue’s serves up Texas barbecue and Hawaiian-inspired dishes with a spin straight from the Big Island. You have a couple nacho options here, including the Poke Nachos (raw ahi tuna, veggies, and gochujang mayo over wonton chips) and Brisket Nachos (cheese, pineapple salsa, Paniolo sauce, and more over corn chips). Don’t forget to save room for delectable desserts, including pineapple upside-down cake. Come for the weekend specials, and leave with a souvenir bottle of barbecue sauce.

Limones

Tucked into the historic J.A. Wilson Building, Limones has been a beloved downtown staple for more than 20 years. Chef Hugo Ramirez, a native of Mexico City, crafts imaginative Mexican- and Californian-inspired cuisine through a revolving menu of layered flavors. Nachos, of course, naturally lend themselves to layered flavors, and Limones never fails to deliver! Their Lobster Nachos sound deceptively simple, with crema, guacamole, and serrano. But don’t be fooled—it’s table food (aka an appetizer) you won’t soon forget.

Mountain Madre

This downtown favorite now serves double the nachos, thanks to their second location in north Asheville. Known for using fresh local ingredients in all of their dishes, the restaurant is also known for having the largest agave bar in WNC—so don’t miss your chance to pair great food with a quality margarita. Their loaded nachos sound traditional, with queso, black beans, shredded lettuce, pico de gallo, and grated cotija cheese. But sometimes creativity comes not from changing a recipe, but in perfecting it to its highest form!

Nine Mile

Since 2008, Nine Mile has offered a casual, Caribbean-inspired and eclectic menu in the heart of Montford. Now, diners in West Asheville and South Asheville have their own locations for Caribbean cuisine. Many of Nine Mile’s pasta and rice dishes are vegetarian friendly, and generous dinner portions are sure to satisfy! To get your nacho fix, order the Reggae Mylitis and pair it with one of their custom Caribbean cocktails. The app is topped with Caribbean black beans, housemade salsa, and a smoked gouda chipotle queso. Big Up your order to make it a full meal.
