Successful independent brokerage joins Carolinas’ real estate leader in Oak Ridge and Asheville
Allen Tate Realtors® and Allen Tate/Beverly-Hanks Realtors®, in partnership with parent company Howard Hanna Real Estate, have acquired The Overman Group, a top real estate firm with agents serving the greater Triad and Asheville regions.
The Overman Group was founded in 2018 by Shaunna Overman, crafted from a vision to provide a competitive team-focused brokerage to its agents, elevated service to its customers, and a steadfast commitment to its communities. Along with Shaunna’s husband Bryan Overman and agent Fotini Casper, Shaunna grew the company to become a Triad leader and expanded it to Asheville in 2021.
Known by its agents as a “teamerage,” the brokerage was unique in its ability to offer team benefits at the firm level.
A total of 13 agents and three professional staff will join Allen Tate and Allen Tate/Beverly-Hanks as part of The Overman Group acquisition. Shaunna Overman is team leader, Tracy Lilly is operations manager and Mallary Weseman is marketing manager. The Overman Group will be based in the Allen Tate Oak Ridge Commons office at 2215 Oak Ridge Road in Oak Ridge, and in the Allen Tate/Beverly-Hanks Asheville-Downtown office at 300 Executive Park in Asheville.
Since 2018, The Overman Group has closed more than 1,000 properties. In 2023, the company closed 168 transactions totalling $44 million in sales and is on track to close $55 million for 2024.
Allen Tate is the Carolinas’ leading real estate company, with 16,665 closed transactions and $7.5 billion in closed sales volume in 2023. The 67-year-old company operates more than 70 local real estate offices spanning the Charlotte, Triad, Research Triangle, High Country, Highlands/Cashiers and Asheville/Mountain regions of North Carolina and the Upstate and Low Country regions of South Carolina.

Shaunna Overman has worked as a real estate professional for 12 years and is a graduate of Elon University. Prior to her real estate career, she worked in loan processing and radio marketing. She and her husband Bryan have one daughter, Mattingly, and make their home in Stoneville.
Following in the tradition of her parents and grandparents, community philanthropy naturally became one of Shaunna’s and The Overman Group’s core values. The Overman Group holds a fundraiser each year to benefit the SPCA at the local level. This year, they made the progressive change to redirect efforts to those affected by Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina, including some of their agents. The Overman Group partnered with Natural Dog locations in the Triad and Rody’s Tavern in Greensboro to collect items of need and deliver them to those most impacted.
