Every fall, the big paint companies release paint colors that are anticipated to be popular in the new year. Taken into consideration by understanding macro and micro design trends, and social media analytics, Behr, Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore have all specified exciting new colors to lean into in 2026. Ready to prime the walls and get creative with paint? Here are the 2026 paint color trends.
Benjamin Moore: Silhouette
Benjamin Moore’s color of the year is Silhouette. This rich chocolatey-brown is modernized with its espresso undertone. Deep, dark and dramatic, this color is very similar to Sherwin Williams’ 2021 Color of the Year, Urbane Bronze. Jewel tones have been majorly trending for several years now, and interestingly enough, Silhouette has a subtle purple undertone that gives this color a rich warmth on the walls.
Sherwin Williams: Universal Khaki
It’s no surprise homeowners are craving warmth on their walls after living with cool blue-grays and stark white walls for several years now, and Universal Khaki is like a warm hug on the walls. This mid-depth beige has a neutral green undertone that easily blends well with many decor styles. With a light reflective value (LRV) of 40, this color is a bit too dark to grace the walls of an open concept living space, but perfect when you want to create a cozy environment in an office or bedroom. If you like the vibe of Universal Khaki but want to go lighter for your main living spaces try Sherwin Williams Wool Skein.
Behr Hidden Gem
Behr’s Hidden Gem is a color we at Howard Hanna Allen Tate can really get behind! Hidden Gem is a gorgeous and dramatic emerald green hue. Those that like their greens to have a hint of a slate undertone will appreciate Hidden Gem’s gorgeous blend of blue-green. Experts predict this pretty jade tone to be popular on kitchen cabinetry, in bedrooms, studies, and even home offices.
