The color green
While white cabinets have long dominated home owners’ wish lists, the color green is making headway lately. Taking cues from the 2022 Sherwin Williams paint color of the year, Evergreen Fog, this smart kitchen is decked out in olive green.
You might also notice the white appliances in this kitchen, as well. While homeowner data shows us stainless is still king, white appliances are starting to rise in popularity.
Hidden pantries
Hidden prep spaces and pantries are staring to trend majorly, as homeowners seek more sophisticated designs. Just beyond what looks like large built in cabinetry doors is a spacious area featuring a butler’s pantry and walk in pantry.
Primary suite innovations
The primary suite is equipped with quite a few innovations. In the bathroom, smart mirrors provide homeowners with time, temperature and road delays.
The primary closet features a double sided laundry basket that can be accessed in the adjoining laundry room–pure genius if you ask us!
As far as design goes, the primary bathroom has what designers are dubbing as a “wet room,” where the bathtub and shower are located within the same glass enclosure.
Package drop zone
Most people buy everything online these days, and to that end, this smart home is designed for the modern shopper. A package drop zone can be accessed with a keyless entry, so delivery drivers can tuck packages away from the elements. To accommodate grocery delivery, the room is set up with a refrigerator.
The color white
If you hadn’t noticed, white is in and gray is out. You’ll notice the home’s exterior is white with black trim and windows, one of the hottest color combinations for new builds and remodels.
Inside, white walls can be seen throughout the first floor, allowing the green kitchen cabinets, unique artwork and funky furnishings to take center stage.
A focus on outdoor living
Outdoor living skyrocketed to popularity in 2020, as homeowners were forced to spend more time at home, but even as pandemic restrictions lessened, the pull to stay home and spend time outdoors remains strong.
Builders are seeing major upticks in the desire to design an outdoor space that is ideal for both relaxing as a family and entertaining large groups of friends. The 2022 Smart Home puts a huge emphasis on outdoor living and features a large maintenance-free composite deck, two living areas, one dining area, a second-story balcony, and of course, the beautiful pool.
