Carolinas’ real estate leader partners with Freestone Properties

Allen Tate Companies, the Carolinas’ leading real estate company, is proud to partner with Freestone Properties, on the opening of its Black Mountain (NC) office.

The Allen Tate/Beverly-Hanks Black Mountain / Freestone Properties office is conveniently located at 706 NC Highway 9 in Black Mountain, close to I-40, downtown and local restaurants. The office serves clients in Buncombe, McDowell, Madison, Henderson and Haywood counties, with a focus on Black Mountain, Swannanoa, Asheville, Old Fort, Fairview and Weaverville. The office is home to eight licensed real estate agents and staff and features shared office space, conference room, open seating area and kitchen, as well as an original stone fireplace.

Freestone Properties was founded in 2016 by Scott and Lisa Russell. Scott serves as broker-in-charge and Lisa is marketing director. The office was previously located in the Village of Cheshire and moved to its current location in 2023. The company is named for the “freestone” streams in Western North Carolina, which are the result of rocks and boulders eroding and becoming rounded and dislodged by the constant flow of water.

Scott has worked as a top-producing Realtor in the Black Mountain area since 2006, with experience in luxury homes, relocation, multi-family and vacant land. He earned a bachelor of business administration and a master’s of business administration from the University of Mississippi, with a concentration in entrepreneurship, management information systems and journalism.

Scott and Lisa Russell live in Black Mountain and they have two sons. He serves as vice chair of the board of directors for the Black Mountain Home for Children, Youth and Families and is a youth flag football coach.

Scott enjoys fly fishing, snowboarding, tennis, mountain biking and basketball.

“We chose to partner with Allen Tate because of their stellar reputation in the Asheville market, their support systems, agent training, marketing tools and essential services. We wanted to partner with a family-owned company focusing on clients, agents and our local community,” said Scott Russell.

“Freestone Properties shares our commitment to real estate excellence and community. We’re excited to partner with Scott and Lisa, as two great companies that will be Stronger Together,” said Gary Scott, president, Allen Tate Companies.

“We welcome Freestone Properties to the Allen Tate/Beverly-Hanks family,” said Brian Cagle, Allen Tate/Beverly-Hanks regional vice president. “We look forward to working together and creating opportunities for both agents and clients.”

Freestone Properties closed 57 transactions totaling $23,237,111 in 2023.
