Greensboro Panthers fan takes $10,000 grand prize
This summer, Cindy McCauley retired from a 35-year career as a research and development professional, and along with her husband, Scott Hummel, started working their way through a list of home improvement projects.
The Greensboro, N.C. couple had lived in their home nearly 30 years and it was time for some repairs and upgrades. As they had throughout their years as homeowners, they turned to Allen Tate Realtor® Randy Carson for professional advice. While they didn’t know Carson when they purchased their home, Hummel and Carson had become friends as fellow Rotarians in the Crescent Rotary Club in Greensboro.
McCauley knew Carson’s advice would be valuable, but never dreamed it would be worth $10,000.
McCauley was selected as the grand prize winner of Allen Tate’s Prowl Your Den Sweepstakes and will receive a $10,000 Visa gift card and autographed Carolina Panthers merchandise. The Carolinas’ #1 real estate company sponsored the promotion to celebrate Allen Tate’s 14-year partnership with the Panthers. More than 20,000 entries were received during the month-long contest.
“Randy told his Rotary Club about the contest, and Scott knew I’d be interested. Of course, you never expect to get a call saying that you are the winner. I was stunned. Scott and I are incredibly grateful to have such good fortune,” McCauley said.
For the past seven years, the Prowl the Den Sweepstakes invited fans for a behind-the-scenes tour of the Panthers “house” at Bank of America Stadium. But with COVID-19, Allen Tate and the Panthers pivoted with a new promotion – Prowl Your Den – and a chance to upgrade a fan’s home.
While McCauley has been a Panthers fan since the beginning, she’s not planning to add a fan cave (at least not yet). The next home projects on her list are a new deck and upgrades to bathrooms.
